Filament takes a felting workshop with Bronwyn Hunter of A Good Yarn.

On Sunday, 26/1/201 8 of us attended a workshop especially designed for us by Bronwyn Hunter.

The members of the group  have different level of experience and prior knowledge.  As the idea of a workshop was Robin's and supported by Annette. it was decided to start from the beginning.  With this in mind the other 5 members were OK with this idea. First we were shown some inspirational samples we would like to explore further.  Then we commenced to create a two layer, two colour piece by weighing the wool tops and measuring a 25 cm square.   After the felting and fulling process we could check back to the grid to determine shrinkage.  It was a great way to spend Australia day and included flag topped Lammingtons courtesy of Bronwyn!
We were pleased that Bronwyn was wearing a beautiful felted top.  This was a great talking point when discussing shaping felt during the felting process.

As well as basic wet felting we also did some nuno/laminated samples using one and two layers, as well as shapped pieces of fibre on fabric.  Purchased prefelts were also explored. So a very busy and fun filled day.
